Happy 4th Birthday Malena!!!!!

Unbelievable!  She is 4 today and loving every minute of it! Malena requested breakfast in bed so at 6:30 we were up and making it!  She asked for a scooter so she has been playing with that since 6:45.  She requested a piñata so we will be doing that later.  She also requested a real unicorn and pony.  We have to stop somewhere and if we got the real unicorn then we would have to get the pony too.

Her treatment last week was rough!  It knocked her out and with the steroids she was real pleasant!  It seems to have run its course and she is VERY happy today!

I just wanted to give you a quick update but now the Birthday Girl would like to play Webkinz so Webkinz it is!

Life at 4 is good!

Love, Suzanne

Ps Happy Anniversary Dad and Mom!

Happy Last Week Of School!!!!

That’s pretty crazy!!  I feel like we just started school!  We are looking forward to a very FUN summer!

Malena is doing GREAT!  She goes in for a treatment tomorrow.  She is getting the chemo in her spine so she will be “put under”.  That means no eating in the morning and that is always something to look forward to!

Last Friday Malena walked in the relay for Life with our neighbor Wendy.  It was a lot a fun.  We thought we would be there for an hour but ended up staying for four hours!  It was kid friendly with lots to do.  I highly recommend it and everything you spend goes towards a great cause!

Our puppies are getting cuter and cuter each day!  They are also getting bigger and bigger! It has been a great experience for all of us.  Of course the kids wish we were keeping one of them but not this time.  We will probably do it again in a year or two and keep one then.

Malena’s hair looks great!  It is actually a very cute do.  It almost looks like we had it cut that way!  She has asked me to give her a haircut.  I can’t see myself doing that just yet!  I told her when it is long we will cut it.

     Happy Summer!  Enjoy!

Love, Suzanne

Malena had her blood counts taken today.  She is doing EXCELLENT!!  It shows!  She is happy and fun and even when she gets grumpy it only lasts a few minutes.  Our new saying, thanks to Kim Taddeo, is “Do you have a case of the Grumpitis?”  Malena thinks that is hysterical and she is laughing in seconds.

Malena was diagnosed just about 11 months ago.  It has been one hell of a trip but it really is much easier now that she is in maintenance.  (I am knocking on wood!)  Hopefully she will continue to stay on this path!

Malena loves the puppies and they just keep getting cuter and cuter!  They are 4 weeks old now and are bouncing around!  We have about 3 more weeks with them and then they are going to their new owners.  We love taking them out in the yard and chasing them around but soon they will be too fast for us.  It has been a great experience for all of us!

Next week is the Relay for Life at Iroquois High School.  Malena is going to walk the “survivor lap” with our neighbor Wendy who is also a survivor and has been a wonderful help to us through all of this!  I have never been to a Relay for Life but from what I understand there are teams of people who walk the track all night long to raise money for cancer research.  The first lap is walked by cancer survivors as a way to start the event.

    Thanks for checking in!

Love, Suzanne
