HI Everyone,

We leave on Sunday at 5 am for Malena’s Make A Wish trip!  I can’t believe it is actually going to happen.  The kids are so excited about it!  Everyday I find them counting the links left on the countdown chain that Mackenna made for us a couple of weeks ago.  I am also excited about it!  I am so grateful to Make A Wish.  It is an amazing organization and from what we have heard we will be treated like royalty.  But you know what, I would give anything to not be going on a Make A Wish trip.  So for me it is a rollercoaster of emotions.  We are truly lucky to be going to Disney in such style but it is also a reminder that Malena is fighting a life threatening illness.

Malena is my hero.  She lives everyday to the absolute fullest!  She has leukemia but she is so strong!  I was at Mackenna’s swimming practice the last week and I looked over and saw Malena in the lap of one of my friends just being so goofy and loveable!  She has a way about her that makes anyone who meets her fall in love with her!   T

he other day she was sitting on my lap snuggling and I was thinking about this past year.  We have adjusted to what our life has become but every now and then it hits me hard.  Well she was sitting with me and out of the blue I just said,” Why did God have to pick you?” and of course she answered because she has an answer for everything and she said, “God picked Julia too.”  I said, “what do you mean God picked Julia?” and she said “Julia has Lusekemia too.”  Julia is another little girl in town who was diagnosed with ALL.  The fact that she knew what I was talking about floored me but it is a real part of her life and something that she never forgets.

 Malena is amazing!

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!

Sincerely, Suzanne

PS Thanks for riding the rollercoaster with me!

Hello Malenafans!

Malena is absolutely adorable!  Her hair is co cute.  It sticks up all over the place. Once we get our camera fixed we will post some new pics.   I feel like she is constantly putting on a show for us but that is her wonderful personality!  She is goofy, funny, LOUD, and a lot of fun!

Preschool has begun and it is everything we thought it would be!  Malena loves it.  She really wants to be one of the big kids.

Her hospital treatment went well last week.  She bounced back from it right away.  On Saturday all the kids spent the night at Aunt Jen’s house.  That was fun for everyone!  And by everyone I mean Pete and me.  Actually Pete and I ran in the Rochester Marathon last Sunday.  I did the full and Pete did the half.  We both finished so we are happy about that!

We are going on Malena’s Make a Wish trip to Disney World in a couple of weeks. We are really looking forward to that!  We are staying in a Disney place called Give the Kids a World Village.  It is a place created for kids with life threatening illnesses and from what I’ve heard they have thought of everything from a medical staff to a 24 hour ice cream parlor to babysitting so parents can get a night out.  We’ll let you know more about it when we get back.

Happy Autumn!

Enjoy the colors!

Love, Suzanne
