Welcome to MalenaMercurio.com!!

We've put this site together to keep our family and friends informed of our now 5 year old daughter Malena's fight against Leukemia as well as to provide photos of her (before and after the July 12th, 2006 diagnosis) and helpful related links to information available on the web. There is a guestbook for you to share your thoughts (which we read every day, thank you!) and a photo gallery. We will add updates, photos and links whenever possible.    Thanks to all of you for your continued support, we honestly could not get through this without you.

Pete, Suzanne, Jamie, Mackenna, Tony and especially, Malena....

June 27, 2009

Malena is 6 years old today!  She had a wonderful day and of course we will keep celebrating all day tomorrow too!  I love kid’s birthdays!  They just go on and on and on!

This past week Malena “graduated” from kindergarten.  She also had a fieldtrip to the farm and celebrated her friend’s birthday and tomorrow is her family birthday!  All kids stuff!  No worrying this year about fevers, blood counts, germs, hospital stays…It is truly wonderful! It is amazing how life changes from one year to the next!  We are sooooo thankful to be celebrating her 6th birthday!  Thank God we live in today’s world and not 50 years ago!  So much has been done to help kids with cancer but we know that there is still a long way to go!

Malena has been very excited this month, not only for her birthday but because Blackberry our dog had her puppies.  For the past 2 years Malena has been talking about the next litter and how we are keeping one this time!  If we were on the fence that changed as soon as she informed us of the new puppy’s name…Lucky!!!!!!!  How could we refuse that!  If anyone deserves a dog named Lucky it is our children!  So we will be spending the summer training a puppy and hopefully camping! I guess the second depends on how well we train Lucky!

We are only a few days away from Malena’s diagnosis anniversary, July 12, 2006.  We will be celebrating “kids Day” that day and counting our blessings that we have made it through!

Thank you for all your continued prayers and support!  I am amazed at how many people check to see how she is doing!

Have a great 4th!

Love, Suzanne
